Outer Encapsulation Options

Fluorinated ethylene propylene (FEP) is a Fluoropolymer. It is a great sealing solution due to its resilience to nearly all chemicals, has a low coefficient of friction with a consistent working temperature limit of -60°C to +205°C. (-75°F to+400°F).

Perfluoroalkoxy alkanes (PFA) is a Fluoropolymer. It has the same chemical resilience as FEP with a higher mechanical strength, increased stress and crack resistance and a consistent working temperature limit of -60°C to +260°C.(-75°F to +500°F).

These encapsulation materials are formed seamlessly around the elastomeric core, resulting in an extremely high chemical resistance product, enabling a single-product solution for multiple sealing applications. Stocking demands and risk of incorrect seal specification are greatly reduced with a universal compatible product.

Inner Core/Profile options

Silicone inner core - round

Commercially the best inner core material option, providing a lower shore hardness and greater elasticity than VitonTM/FKM - an excellent material choice for the majority of applications.

Silicone hollow inner core - round

Delivering greater compressibility than solid Silicone core, with a hardness similar to a standard elastomeric ‘O’-ring. The hollow core flexibility means less compression force is required to enable its sealing abilities.

50 Shore A. core hardness is available upon request which gives the same lower compression force requirement as hollow core, but without the of smaller internal diameter production limitations which can be seen on hollow core.

VitonTM/FKM inner core - round

Delivering greater chemical resistance than Silicone. If the encapsulation is damaged, VitonTM/FKM provides greater resilience to chemical attack. This is the choice for LABS Silicone free product.

Silicone / VitonTM/FKM inner core - rectangular

Rectangular profile encapsulated seals typically operate as compression gaskets in place of traditional elastomeric or solid PTFE gaskets. They provide significant benefits where application conditions are variable.

White core is available in Silicone or VitonTM/FKM options upon request. These are ideal for the food, pharmaceutical and semiconductor industries.

Hollow Core Silicone

  • Hollow core Silicone encapsulated ‘O’-rings have greater compressibility compared to solid core ‘O’-rings.
  • The hollow core flexibility means less clamping force is required to enable its sealing abilities
  • Ideal for fragile applications using sensitive materials, such as glass or light plastics.
  • Useful for where the sealing area may require room for movement during operation.
